It is prohibited for a non-Canadian to purchase, directly or indirectly, any residential property
Conditions: in force since January 1, 2023; fine up to $10,000 on summary conviction

A federal law, the Prohibition on the Purchase of Residential Property by Non-Canadians Act, bars a "non-Canadian" (a term the Act defines) from buying any residential property, directly or indirectly, unless one of the Act's exceptions applies.
